PM Modi backs National Data Governance framework for intelligence exchange across agencies

PM Modi backs National Data Governance framework for intelligence exchange across agenciesBacking the emerging technologies and use of the National Data Governance Framework for smooth data exchange, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked senior IPS officers to leverage technology for tracking down criminals via better coordination between state police and the Central agencies.

PM Modi while addressing the all India DGPs conference on its last day said that it was the time to make the police force more sensitive and train them in emerging technologies.

“Attended the DGP/IGP Conference in Delhi. There were extensive deliberations on different aspects relating to the police forces including integrating latest tech and strengthening traditional policing mechanisms,” PM Modi tweeted.

“While we should further leverage technological solutions like biometrics, there is also a need to further strengthen traditional policing mechanisms like foot patrols, etc,” Modi said.

According to PM Modi, while there was an immediate need to adapt to new technologies including biometrics, there is also a need to further strengthen traditional policing mechanisms like foot patrols.

PM Modi also recommended repealing obsolete criminal laws and building standards for police organisations across states. He said that there was a need to look into prison reforms to improve jail management. Modi further discussed strengthening the border as well as coastal security by organising frequent visits by officials.

PM Modi suggested replicating the model of the DGPs and IGs conference at the state and district levels for discussing emerging challenges and evolving best practices among their teams.

The two day DGP conference covered various aspects of policing and national security, including Counter Terrorism, Counter Insurgency and Cyber Security. Union home minister, ministers for state for home, National Security Advisor, Union home secretary, DGsP/IGsP of States/UTs and Heads of the Central Police Organisations/Central Armed Police Forces participated in the two day event organised by the Union government.

What is Firewall? A Firewall is a network security device that monitors and filters incoming and outgoing network traffic based on an organization's previously established security policies. At its most basic, a firewall is essentially the barrier that sits between a private internal network and the public Internet.

Secure your network at the gateway against threats such as intrusions, Viruses, Spyware, Worms, Trojans, Adware, Keyloggers, Malicious Mobile Code (MMC), and other dangerous applications for total protection in a convenient, affordable subscription-based service. Modern threats like web-based malware attacks, targeted attacks, application-layer attacks, and more have had a significantly negative effect on the threat landscape. In fact, more than 80% of all new malware and intrusion attempts are exploiting weaknesses in applications, as opposed to weaknesses in networking components and services. Stateful firewalls with simple packet filtering capabilities were efficient blocking unwanted applications as most applications met the port-protocol expectations. Administrators could promptly prevent an unsafe application from being accessed by users by blocking the associated ports and protocols.
