Nvidia has been hit by another cyberattack, this time targeting its Brev cloud development platform. According to a report, unauthorised activity occurred on the service between October 4 and October 20, prompting the company to send formal breach notifications to affected users warning that their account information may have been exposed. Citing the customer notice, Tom’s Hardware reported that Nvidia launched an internal investigation after spotting unidentified activity on the platform. The probe determined that malicious actors may have accessed data stored on Brev systems, specifically compromising Secure Shell (SSH) keys configured by the service. What Nvidia told affected users: Read notification
In its communication to users, Nvidia confirmed the security breach and outlined the immediate technical steps taken to protect developer systems, while also stating that it replaced the compromised SSH keys with new credentials. The company added that its team has found no evidence showing the exposed keys were improperly used.
We are writing to inform you that NVIDIA Corporation (“NVIDIA”) has experienced a security incident that may affect the security of your data. NVIDIA is providing this notice to you with details of the incident, our response, and resources available to you to help protect your personal information from possible misuse.
What Happened?
Our incident investigation identified unauthorized activity affecting the NVIDIA Brev platform from October 4 through October 20, 2026. We acted to secure our systems and to determine the information potentially affected. Our analysis determined that your information from our Brev network may have been affected.
What Information Was Involved?
Our analysis determined that the following information was potentially exposed: the SSH key that Brev provisioned for your Brev-provisioned VM. This SSH key has since been rotated, and your instances have been updated with the replacement key. At this time, we are unaware of improper use of these keys.
The breach at Nvidia arrives amid a broader series of security incidents aimed at AI infrastructure providers and developer cloud platforms. For example, on October 30, cybersecurity firm Wiz published a report detailing what it described as a “Black October” for AI developer services. The firm tracked security incidents across at least nine platforms throughout the month.
